hey friends!
a few days ago during #the100dayproject in this post i shared a few sneak peeks at that days card. i knew exactly who i wanted to mail it to and i wanted it to be a surprise!
well, they've received the card so i'm so happy to share it here! i had so, so much fun making this card. i found some inspiration on the simon says stamp instagram feed and decided to try a similar technique but putting my own spin on it.
i began by watercoloring a panel using a rainbow of distress inks. i let the colors blend and bleed together. between each color i used my heat tool to dry them before moving to the next color.
i then die-cut a stitched circle out of the panel, as well as from plain white paper. the card itself is a circle which is fun and different.
the stitched detail is so fun - just look how adorable! i added a smattering of clear sequins around the card and even though they are clear and shimmery, they slightly pick up the color from behind them.
i stamped the first part of the sentiment "i wanna be more" in black ink and then die-cut the second part of the sentiment "like you" from both black cardstock as well as a shimmery, glittery black cardstock.
that cathy zielske is freaking amazing - she designed both the stamp set as well as the dies. not only do they pair together perfectly, but the font choice on both is just incredible.
because it was a shaped card [and slightly smaller than most cards i make], i decided to create a coordinating envelope. i used the we r memory keepers envelope board to size and cut my envelope out of watercolor paper. then i used the same technique to watercolor it in the same pattern as the card front.
just look how fun and awesome it is! ahhh i love it so much. the funny thing is that it's almost perfect the way that the colors on the envelope line up with the colors on the card. i didn't try and match them up, but man it's a detail that makes me ecstatic.
sometimes when cards work out like this one, it just makes my heart so happy. this one went to my momma because not only is she incredible, she's definitely who i get the majority of my creativity from!
it's one of the few cards that is a one-of-a-kind from #the100dayproject and i can't wait to try this technique out on a few more cards in the future.
