Mail It Monday #7

Mail It Monday #7

hello friends! can you believe it is already december? the last month of the year? where has the time gone?!

do you mail out holiday cards? we've already received one and i'm feeling very behind! i've been so busy working on creating cards for the shop & shows that i haven't even begun to think about holiday cards for the year from the w2 house - yikes!

while it isn't a holiday card, i do have a card to share today for mail it monday. i sent this one out last week and while somewhat simple, i really enjoyed the creative process with it.

recently i found out that a friend i used to work with was diagnosed with breast cancer. she's one of the toughest women that i've ever met, but she's also young. it doesn't seem fair. she's been on my mind quite a bit and i wanted to reach out to her in case there's anything i can do - and quite frankly to let her know i've been thinking of her.

while the traditional color of breast cancer is pink, i didn't want the feel of this card to be bright pink - in your face - here i am. i opted for a subtle, soft pink paired with a light grey. instead of die-cutting with this new die from altenew, i decided to emboss it on the front panel of the card. a beautiful texture was the result and i couldn't be happier with the way that it turned out.

next, using a die-cut circle as the base for my sentiment, i stamped "you're on my mind" in sweet blush ink to match the cardstock. a trick that i use is to stamp versamark on the top layer of ink so that when i sprinkle on clear embossing powder, it sticks a little better. then i heat set the powder with my heat gun. a smooth, shiny finish is the perfect compliment to the texture of the hearts.

using foam adhesive, i elevated the pink panel off of the grey card base. it made a slightly more balanced feel to the card. i paired the card with a slightly darker grey envelope from gina k. [as a side note, i cannot rave enough about her envelopes. i just love them so much! i might have placed a huge reorder this past weekend during an amazing sale!]

i like for my focus in sending mail to be a to share a little happiness. even through a difficult journey like my friend is going through, maybe this card will brighten her day just a little.

i've got a handful of birthdays coming up so that might be this week's focus, but in case you need a few reasons, here are some other days for which you might consider sending some snail mail from my shop:

december 4 - national cookie day

december 6 - national bartender day

december 8 - national brownie day

if you're the type who sends holiday cards - be sure to check out the winter holidays collection in my shop. i'll be adding lots more varieties throughout the week.
