i'm super jazzed to share one of the cards that i made + mailed last week with you. sunday was my niece's 18th birthday [how?!] and i wanted to make her a card that was fun and colorful without being super kid-ish.

holy wow man, the photos don't even begin to do this card justice! the lighting plays off of the holographic strip and the colors dance like they're at a rave!

using a few shades of aqua and blue inks from pinkfresh studios, i repeatedly stamped the sentiment "it's your birthday" in a horizontal row on the white card front. i then drew thin black lines on an angle around the perimeter to create a border.

the wheel landed on ink blending which it's done a few times already during this challenge. i decided to add in a monochromatic color scheme, birthday for the topic with stenciling and 3-d elements for detail. since i was sticking with only using one color, i decided to go light handed to heavy handed on the ink blending to get different values of the same color. [i created an additional wheel with the basic colors [red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple to help me decide on a color family to use.] that wheel landed on purple!
