i overlapped several shades of distress ink, including faded jeans, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire and hickory smoke. i used a mask for the moon and then i used the negative and fossilized amber ink to color it in. tiny iridescent stars are added to small star sequins and i think they compliment the saying really well.

he is just my favorite. i don't know why exactly, but i just love his little expression. i stamped and die-cut the bird before coloring him with prismacolor markers. i haven't seen a bird in these bright shades of yellows and oranges, but i would like to think that somewhere he exists. he is also layered on the cloud background with foam tape for added dimension [hence the little shadow below him.]

i began with a blank watercolor canvas and using two shades of distress ink, i watercolored the background, creating an ombre fade. i know i've mentioned it before but the way that distress inks blend together - in any form - just amazes me. this time i used salty ocean and blueprint sketch. there's multiple layers of paint building up to the end result.
