today i'm super jazzed to share the handmade card for day 36. the inspiration wheel landed on special effect and since i had more time than usual, i was able to map it out and plan ahead and i am so. freaking. excited. with the way it turned out!

i pulled a few colors of ink and decided to use the same stamp over and over to create a pattern that i would then add a sentiment to. moving in rainbow order [of course!] i inked up the stamp, spritzed it with water and smooshed it onto the paper. i elected to use heavy weight cardstock instead of watercolor paper which changed the end result a bit, but i like it.

the inspiration wheel landed on stenciling for the topic and while it might be hard to imagine while looking at the above card, the blue box has been stenciled, creating a nice focal point on this card front. overlapping the block is the sentiment that reads "jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way" -  it's been stamped in red ink and then heat embossed with a clear coating. it's slightly dimensional to the touch and adds a nice shiny finish on the words. there's a gorgeous shimmer across the entire card front. using a black gel pen i hand drew lines around the perimeter of the inked up square.

the spin on the inspiration wheel for day 33 landed on all one company, ideally meaning that all the supplies i would use to create today's handmade card would come from just one company. i decided this was the perfect time to use some newer items in my stash and that i would add a card to a category i often get requests for: new baby! you will see that i ended up breaking my own rules and cheating a bit by using one supply not from the main company, but since i make the rules i decided it was okay. [anyone else think of who's line is it anyway? i often think about their catchphrase, "where the rules are made up and the points don't matter" - seems pretty fitting!]

the spin on the inspiration wheel landed on monochromatic for the theme of today's card and my secondary wheel landed on the color green. i thought the best option would be to create a holiday [christmas] card in various shades of green.
