#the100dayproject : handmade card 63/100-2 : warm winter wishes

the spin on the inspiration wheel today landed on monochromatic and i was inspired by a newer stamp set from mft. it was definitely out of my comfort zone, but i think that i like the way it turned out! i decided to use shades of greys and black with a splash of white to land on both ends of the color spectrum.

since the stores already have christmas candy out, i suppose it's only fitting that today's card is a holiday card. [side note - jon went to pick up halloween candy for the project that i'll share details on tomorrow and he had to go to three different stores because the christmas candy was more stocked than halloween candy. sorry, i'm not ready for candy canes quite yet - bring on the reese's!]

today the inspiration wheel landed on pattern play and i decided to try something different. i recently ordered some new tag die-cuts and have been itching to play with them for the upcoming holidays. i am a sucker for a nicely wrapped present and i think they mean more when they look nice. i always try and have some kind of ribbon or twine or something to accompany the wrapping paper and this year i'm looking forward to using some handmade tags!

the inspiration wheel landed on stenciling for the topic and while it might be hard to imagine while looking at the above card, the blue box has been stenciled, creating a nice focal point on this card front. overlapping the block is the sentiment that reads "jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way" - it's been stamped in red ink and then heat embossed with a clear coating. it's slightly dimensional to the touch and adds a nice shiny finish on the words. there's a gorgeous shimmer across the entire card front. using a black gel pen i hand drew lines around the perimeter of the inked up square.
