#the100dayproject : 16/100

have i ever mentioned how much i love receiving new products in the mail? i mean i'm a fan of happy mail all the way around, but add in new stampy and scrappy supplies and i'm one giddy kid.

i ordered a few new stamps and die sets over the last few weeks and they've slowly been rolling in. after pulling the following color swatch for today, i knew just the stamp set to use.

as i've mentioned before, i'm so not usually a flowery type of person. however, i saw a card sample made with this stamp set in gorgeous black and white with a pop of color and knew i wanted to have it. i only have a few layering stamp sets in my stash and i'm always amazed at how well they look when done correctly.

i picked a sketch to help me out too because i was a little apprehensive about how to go about designing with these large flowers.

the sketch also happened to be from my favorite things stamps which was kinda convenient. i selected a newer die-cut from my stash to use with today's design.

i treated each of the openings in the rectangular panel as a window to a sneak at a flower. using several of the pinks and reds, i stamped and double stamped for a darker appearance with the different flowers. i added in white and black to the color scheme for today and am happy that i did. i think the flowers show up really well on the crisp white and the pops of black tie everything together.

i also can't wait to use these flowers in multiple shades of the same color family, i think they are going to be really useful and have a different look depending upon the colors they're stamped with. the sentiment "smile" is from an older studio calico stamp set in my stash, but i really like the scripty font and think it matches well.

while i've been working to add positive and uplifting designs to my storefront, over the next few days i plan to add in some mother's day cards since that's the next big event coming up. i think a special card, perhaps paired with a small group of blank cards and postage stamps could be a wonderful and meaningful gift - something to consider for sure.

more tomorrow!
