#the100dayproject : 2/100

welcome to day two of my journey on the 100 day project.

i thought that i would elaborate a little bit on my process of color selection for each day. i decided that in order to set myself up for success on this project [especially on long work days], it would be best if i had some tools to help me along the way.

my first tool is a color swatch book.

i searched my pinterest boards for color inspiration combos and using some stamps from papertrey ink, i created a little flip book of sorts with each color combination. i numbered them [i currently have 104 but want to make a few more and i'm also planning on making a similar book for my distress inks] and have learned that if i ask siri to pick a number between 1-104, she will. so that's how i've selected the color scheme for each day. i'm hoping it will help with the random pattern instead of me just going back to my traditional go-to choices. i'm also keeping track to try and avoid duplicating the same color scheme - because you know, i track all the things.

i was slightly surprised today that the choice selected shared two colors with yesterday's card.

i'm wanting to create as many uplifting and positive cards right now as possible. they're the types of cards i'm personally sending and i think that everyone could use a little happiness.

today's card sentiment is featuring a message of encouragement to "keep smiling" in bold black ink.

i didn't want the design of today's card to be 100% solid colors, so i elected to use a tone-on-tone pattern of the new leaf color. using a cover plate die-cut, i dry embossed the pattern into the card base. i then die-cut the same panel from the four other colors. using a variety of pieces, i filled in several spots.

the sentiment is stamped towards the top of the card base with a big bold font. to add a little more dimension and detail, i added three black enamel dots.

it was a fun challenge to use these colors together because to be honest, i don't think i would normally pick them together. so for day two - my plan to challenge myself is already working. yay for that!

tomorrow's my first day back to work [this week] while creating, so here's hoping it all works the way i am planning.

i'll be adding this card to my shop later this week. [i'm thinking to save myself some time i'll do one batch update each week with all the new styles available and then i'll share details on instagram.]

a twist that i'm debating adding to my 100 day challenge is to randomly select a stamp set and force myself to use it as well. it would make things a little trickier especially when i want to have a certain theme but it also might force me to use some sets i've been neglecting. telling the idea/concept to laura today it reminded me of that show with drew carey, "whose line is it anyway?" where the tagline was something along the lines of "where the rules are made up and the points don't matter." we'll see how it goes as i continue.

2 down, 98 to go!
