#the100dayproject : 42/100

happy monday friends! i only know what day it is because it's my weekend from work! this week will be the start of a new schedule since restaurants are okayed to open on thursday. still lots of uncertainty and questions up in the air, but it's a good thing i've got crafting to keep me sane.

my card for today was inspired by a technique i saw on social media, combining distress ink and water to create a watercolor like effect. i received two packages of happy mail in the form of supplies today [#quarantine2020 has definitely increased my online shopping!] and i wanted to use one of the new sets.

these wildflowers are so fun! i thought of the random purple wildflowers i've seen on the sides of the highway while on roadtrips and thought it'd be an interesting color combo to use.

i used watercolor paper for the front panel because i wanted to make sure it'd be able to hold up to the saturation of the additional water along with the ink. my only complaint is that it isn't as white as i usually like, but i love the results.

inking up the stamp with distress ink, i lightly spritzed it with water before stamping it onto the paper. i cannot express how much i love the results of distress ink with water. i used at least two colors on each layer - they just blend spectacularly! altogether there are five layers of stamping and i really like the way that no two flowers are exactly the same - as in real life.

while the design is pretty clean + simple, the appearance of the flowers is almost lifelike with a raw, organic kind of feel. i wanted to keep the message uplifting so i used another new product, this tabbed die-cut to hold the stamped sentiment. stamped in black ink is the message "keep being amazing" and i think that's something everyone needs to hear!

i mounted the watercolor panel along the left side of the card base, revealing the purple background on the top and right edges. while this isn't my traditional style of cards, i have to admit, i really like it.

i know i've said it before, but i think it's worth repeating that i'm really enjoying this process of creating something everyday. before this challenge i was pretty good at spending time in the craft castle each day, but i wasn't always productive. this challenge has forced me to do something, even on the days i didn't think that i had the energy and i'm quickly realizing that i'm also producing a large amount of awesome snailmail.

i'm still open for suggestions on types of cards to make or sentiments to include, so feel free to contact me or comment below!
