#the100dayproject : 50/100 - halfway baby!

holy crap on a cracker i made it! only halfway, but still! i think i have only tried this challenge once and if i'm not mistaken, i got about four days in before i couldn't keep up. the "rules" [if you can call them that] say that it doesn't have to be consecutive days, but come on, it just makes sense!

for today's card i decided to combine a handful of my favorite things - watercolor painting, texture, sequins & bling and an inside sentiment. oh and heat embossing. and foam tape. and it's going to be mailed to one of my favorite people in the world.

are you ready?

i watercolored the background panel in a few of my favorite colors - lime green [twisted citron] and aqua/teal [peacock feathers] distress ink. there's about six or seven layers of color, building into this intense, [but not too in your face], blend of goodness. then i flicked on some black distress ink, which dried much lighter than anticipated.

the sentiment is one of the newer ones that i hadn't yet used and it reads "to my platonic soulmate" which is completely the description of my bestie/sister/favorite human.

i added some intense texture in what i like to call the mercedes triangle pattern and it's so dimensional that it's crazy. it's normally a deep impression but add in the fact that it was watercolor paper which is heavier than cardstock and whoa it's great. and so deep. you could probably fall into one of those little crevices if you aren't careful.

some super weird [not even sure where it came from or where i got it!] silver twine/ribbon was wrapped around the top panel a handful of times and it compliments the insane amount of assorted sequins that are smattered all across the front. clear, iridescent, aqua, lime, and even a few clear domes that are fun and blingy!

i also adhered the panel to the front of the black card base with foam tape - because i wanted to go all out on this card to celebrate making it halfway through this project! so not only is it textured and full of 3d elements, but it's also raised off of the card base. woot woot! thank you in advance, usps!

normally i would have cropped off the edges of the watercolor panel but i decided that i liked the crisp edges and clean lines.

when you open this bad boy up, you're greeted with a bold green interior and the sentiment "miss you like crazy" which was stamped in black and heat embossed in shiny clear powder.

i think it's a perfect card to celebrate making it 50 days in a row of handmade cards! full of my favorite things and going to one of my favorite people. the second half of this challenge/project is going to be full of so many awesome things, i can just tell!
