#the100dayproject : 76/100

the card i made today was designed to match a gift - i didn't know i was going to make it until i did, but it's a father's day card for my daddio. i waited to post here until after i knew he'd gotten the gift and card because i didn't want to give anything away.

he loves all the outdoor things - plants, birds & their houses and feeders, decorative lawn displays and windsocks and windchimes. i found a pair of rainbow twirly windsocks that i thought were perfect, and it also meant i got to use all the rainbow colors on a card!

i decided to make a slimline card after enjoying the process the other day. i have a tool that allows me to make a faux-stitched or perforated texture anywhere i want, so i did a little wonky border around the front of the card. using red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple distress inks, i blended them across an altenew stencil. since the stencil wasn't as big as the panel, i started with the first few colors before moving the stencil towards the bottom, while also changing directions a bit.

i die-cut three stars from holographic cardstock for a little bit of shine and i scattered them across the card front. i stamped "you are so" in black ink above a die-cut work "awesome" which was stamped and embossed on black cardstock.

on the inside of the card i stamped "happy father's day," also in black ink. using a black gel pen, i added a handful of lines and dots to several blocks of color for detail.

i'm super happy with the way that this turned out and i think my daddio was too! i made the envelope out of black cardstock and sealed it with my wax seal because it's one of my favorite things to do!

these colors just flow so well - in the white spaces between the colors i gently blended the same color so that it was more two-toned that stark white. i think it worked pretty well.

here's a close up of the wonky stitch marks and the ink blending.

this week is going to be a good one and i've got lots of ideas and projects to work on. i can't wait to share some details here.

i hope you had a wonderful weekend and a happy father's day - if it applies to you!
