#the100dayproject : 8/100-2

happy wednesday friends!

today's spin on the inspiration wheel landed on ink blending! with tomorrow being october 1, i decided to create a halloween-style card - but it can actually be used any time.

do you love candy corn and eagerly await the arrival of the delicious bags on store shelves in late september? or are you the type who despises it with all of your being and doesn't understand how people can enjoy the 90% sugar / 10% crayon wax combination?

whichever way you fall on the great candy corn debate - this card can be a spectacular choice for sending to someone you love!

using a stamp and die set from lawn fawn, i created the focal point on this card, which is also where the ink blending comes in. i don't yet have the coordinating die-cuts for the candy corn portion of this design, so i had to get creative. after stamping the candy corn inside the little jar, i used a post it note to mask so i could blend around the candies. i used tumbled glass distress ink because i wanted to jar to have a light blue tint instead of the stark white background. the jar is elevated off of the card base with foam tape for added dimension.

using my prismacolor markers, i colored in the candy corn in the iconic orange and yellow colors [i decided to leave the brown indian corn out of this one]. i combined strands of baker's twine in two sets of colors - light orange and white along with dark orange and white and wrapped them around the card front. there's a little knot and tie along the left side of the card base.

the black and white patterned paper just seemed fitting for the design and coordinates with the sentiment near the top left corner of the card base. "i love you more than candy corn" is stamped in black ink. a bright orange envelope will hold the card tight as it's delivered to your recipient.

the blending on this card wasn't the most elaborate use of the inspiration wheel, but i'm still really happy with the way that it turned out. hard to believe that tomorrow is already the start of october - complete with a full moon!

tomorrow i'll also be sharing a fun update on instagram, so make sure you're following along there! this card can be purchased in my online shop here

8 down, 92 to go!
