#the100dayproject : handmade card 23/100-2 : you are remarkable

for the second day in a row, the inspiration wheel landed on stencil as the theme. this is a theme that i am really enjoying because i have so many options! stencils really are such a versatile tool and can be altered in a variety of ways - color choice, medium used, direction, etc. while somewhat basic, they are one of my favorite tools to use when making my handmade cards.

i decided to use a newer stencil in my stash that's designed to look like water. i began with a light grey panel and lightly inked up the background with salty ocean distress ink. then, i rotated the stencil 90 degrees and inked it up a little more with peacock feathers distress ink. i repeated this twice more, alternating ink colors and rotating 90 degrees each time.

"You are remarkable" is the main message on this handmade card. A yellow card base sits below a panel that has been stenciled with blue and blue-green inks, creating the background resembling the water in a swimming pool. All of the corners of the panel as well as the card base aside from the lower right have been slightly rounded, which softens the feel of this card. A trio of blue translucent dots surround the sentiment for added dimensional detail. A light grey envelope is included.

the rotating and ink blending worked really well and the end result is similar to that of the reflection you would see inside a swimming pool. each of the cards in this series will be slightly different because of the placement of the stencil, but i love that feature. just like the reflection of the water will never be the same twice, neither are these cards.

the sentiment "you are remarkable" is stamped in black ink near the lower right hand corner of the card and is accented by a trio of small blue translucent dots. they will be slightly elevated when completely dry and add a little detail. the upper and lower left corners as well as the upper right corner of both the card panel and the yellow card base have been slightly rounded for a softer feel.

An angled view of the sentiment, "you are remarkable" which has been stamped in crisp black ink. The ink blending on the background really gives the appearance of water in a swimming pool on a summer day. The yellow card base ties into the feeling of the sun. A trio of small blue translucent dots accent the sentiment, along with three rounded corners on both the card panel as well as the card base.

i thought that the yellow card base was reminiscent of the sun, shining down on a cool pool during a hot summer day. the sentiment is designed to be slightly encouraging while also complimentary.

as i've mentioned a bunch of times before, i'm a big fan of sending mail to remind people just how awesome they are. i think everyone needs some reassurance now and again.

A flat-lay view of this handmade card which is encouraging as well as complimentary for your recipient. A yellow card base holds a panel which resembles the reflective water inside a swimming pool alongside the stamped sentiment, "you are remarkable." A trio of small blue translucent dots provides additional detail around the sentiment. The upper and lower left corners as well as the upper right corner of the card panel and the card base have been rounded to give a softer feel to the card.

the more i look at this card, the more i'm liking the way it came together. i think using two colors of ink when creating the background really elevated the depth in the results.

it's listed here in the online shop, which has been updated to include all of the previous 22 days of #the100dayproject cards! i've still got a list of things i want to create as well as a few holiday projects up my sleeve and i'm so excited to bring them to life.

i hope you'll continue to follow along!
