so unlike the results from yesterday, when i spun the inspiration wheel [today], i just knew the idea would totally work out - and it did!
the wheel landed on die-cut element and i knew i wanted to use a stamp + die set i added to my stash a few months ago, but hadn't yet used. i ended up being able to die-cut a bunch of elements for the card and it worked for the theme really well.
the main element on the card front is a large die-cut circle with faux-stitching around the edges. the top portion of the circle has been ink blended using a cloud stencil and a variety of distress inks, creating a perfectly calming sunset. the bottom of the circle features two layers of aqua cardstock that have been cut with two different size scallops to look like water and tiny waves.
between the two layers of aqua waves sits a wooden piling, on which one seagull is just hanging out. the other seagull is just floating alongside in the water. these images have been stamped, die-cut and then colored with prismacolor markers.
the coloring on the seagulls is pretty minimal, but they just make me so happy. i coated the beaks with a glossy glaze gel pen and so they have a shiny reflection. i like to think that they're smiling - despite the fact they don't have mouths.
the sentiment on this card might be my favorite part - "i want you to be as happy as a seagull with a chip" - because honestly, have you ever seen anything happier than that? they just fly until they find one and then they're so happy - just like the recipient of this card will be!
the entire circular portion has been elevated off of the card base with the use of foam tape, so it's pretty dimensional, but flat enough to fit in a standard envelope. every card in this series will be a little different since each background has been individually stenciled, although all the same colors were used. this is another card that's just a nice, feel-good card. it can be sent for any reason and will always be appreciated!
these took me a little longer to create than cards usually do, but i was able to really enjoy the process which was very much needed this week. [i know it's only monday, but my week is all thrown off]. sometimes it just feels so good to create for the sake of creating.
behind the scenes i'm working on a bunch of designs that i'm not planning on sharing until they are debuted the weekend of nov 27-29. i'm participating in a couple virtual events to celebrate thanksgiving-black friday-cyber monday and it's going to be great! you should probably start getting excited. trust me. :)
more tomorrow friends!
