#the100dayproject : 2022 : 8/100 - hello handsome

Posted by Kerry Wills on

hey friends!

today i'm sharing the card from day 8/100 of #the100dayproject. the spin landed on old product and i decided to use an older embossing folder as well as a few older stamp sets.

i'm not sure what masculine cards are "supposed" to look like as i often get that request at shows - "i need a masculine birthday card or a thinking of you card that isn't bright and colorful" - i wasn't aware dudes couldn't like bright colors? but anyway, i think it's safe to say that today's card is a masculine card.

using a repeating pattern of squares, i stamped the sentiment "hello handsome" in black ink off to the right of the panel, directly above a stamped mustache. i elevated the stamped panel off of the card base with foam adhesive for added dimension.

i thought that the blue color played well with the kraft card base and the creamy natural shade of the front panel. there are a bunch of patterns of squares in this particular set, but this style is one of my favorites. for additional detail i decided to dry emboss the front of the card. the pattern is visible around the stamped panel as well as from the inside.

i think that this mustache pattern is so fun! all different styles and sizes - on the front of the card they are embossed [raised] and on the inside they are debossed [sunk in]. it's not so bold that it takes away from the design, but it definitely adds to it!

while lots of products and techniques go in and out of style, i love the feeling of older sets of stamps. i enjoy revisiting them and using them in new ways with newer products. facebook memories recently reminded me that i wanted to make about 3 cards with each stamp set i own to showcase the versatility of them. this is still a goal but with so many sets, it'll take awhile. that's part of the fun though, isn't it?

if there are cards you'd like to see added to my collection, please feel free to contact me. i really enjoy hearing what you're on the lookout for!

8 days down, 92 to go - i hope you'll continue to follow along!
