#the100dayproject : 87/100

Posted by Kerry Wills on

for day 87 of #the100dayproject, i'm recreating a card that is similar to one i've made in the past. as i've mentioned, i generally only make a few of each style because i like to have a wide variety. however, there are a few that i've made over and over because they tend to be pretty popular.

ohioans love all things ohio - and every time i've had ohio themed cards at shows i've sold out! i don't think i've even had any make it to the website! this one will be listed soon - but i think no matter where you're from, in ohio or otherwise, we all have someone we wish was here [with you.]

i used my silhouette and some designer software to create the ohio shape and cut it from some lawn fawn patterned paper. it's such a beautiful combination of yellow, red orange and aqua that i knew i wanted to pair it with two shades of aqua/teal to make it pop!

the die-cut is layered on a panel that's been cut with a rectangle die that also features faux-stitching. i don't think i'll ever get sick of this look - i just love it. then i stamped a small black heart near the area where i'm from, cleveland-ish. three black arrows point to the heart and surrounding areas to compliment the sentiment, "wish you were here" which is stamped in black ink near the bottom of the rectangle. everything is adhered to a turquoise card base.

i think that the patterned paper is pretty busy so i wanted to keep the rest of the card design relatively simple. the wonderful thing about this overall design is that i can duplicate it with any state shape and i can place the heart wherever the sender wishes. it's a great option for a custom order!

while this challenge is winding down, i'm still busy cranking out cards. i received word today that another one of my favorite shows to participate in as a vendor has been cancelled, so i'm busy searching ideas and plans to bring more cards to more people, even if i have to do it in creative ways.

as we roll into a holiday weekend, i hope you're able to enjoy some great family/friend time as well as time to relax - but remember to be safe and be smart.
