today's card is a little different than any i've made before and i haven't yet decided how i feel about the end result. the inspiration wheel landed on die-cut element and some additional inspiration/motivation came from helping a friend pack up her moving truck - so my thoughts steered me towards a miss you type card. [have i mentioned how much i'm going to miss her?!]
i die-cut the letters to spell out "miss you" from plaid patterned paper, but subbed the same color yellow as the card base for the letter "u". i wanted it to be a play on the word "you" as if it were missing.
the patterned papers all came from the same mini 6x6 inch paper pad from doodlebug - one of my absolute favorite companies. i combined some plaids, some polka dots and some stripes in varying sized strips. i tore the edges of the patterned pieces for a slightly distressed look and then i added a smattering of colored sequins across the card front. [the sequins were jon's idea because i thought it needed something.]
i initially loved the idea/concept of this card but the more i look at it, the more i think i selected the wrong color card base. i'm not sure, but there's something that is just a little off to me - however, i still think people will appreciate being on the receiving end of this handmade card.
this is one of the few cards that i've made recently that doesn't have any stamping on it! i debated adding an additional sentiment on the inside, but i figured that "miss you" could encompass so many feelings and emotions that it wasn't necessary.
the sequins are green, blue and brown to match the colors in the patterned papers and they're a variety of finishes - matte and shiny which adds a nice level of detail. i also really like the color of the green envelope that's included. there's just something uplifting and happy about colored envelopes in the mail, don't you agree?
this card will soon be added to the online shop - tomorrow i'll be sharing details of the events coming up next weekend along with some discount codes you might want to save! wink, wink!
