#the100dayproject : handmade card 81/100-2 : paper hugs

happy weekend friends!

for day 81 of this project, the inspiration wheel landed on stenciled and i thought it would be fun to use some embossing paste again today. i had so much fun with it on this card, i've been thinking of ways to use it since!

i also managed to pick up a limited edition stamp set with a recent purchase and i have to admit, it might be the cutest thing i've seen in awhile. [i know i said that yesterday, but this is a new, different set that's adorable in a whole quarantine kinda way.]

Inspired by the attire required since the COVID outbreak, this card features a stamped and die-cut bear wearing a facemask. The background is dark blue and is filled with slightly dimensional stars, created from embossing paste and a stencil. Near the bottom of the card panel, the sentiment "A paper hug for you" is stamped in black ink.

i began with a dark blue panel and used a stencil from mft along with some metallic silver embossing paste. the smattering of stars reminds me of a night time sky and i just really liked the way that it looked. i mounted the panel onto a light blue card base which coordinates with the adorable [and seriously safe] mask that the stamped and die-cut bear is wearing.

A diagonal view of the card front with emphasis on the die-cut bear wearing a safety mask along with a background created from a stencil and embossing paste.

stamped near the bottom of the dark blue card panel is the sentiment "a paper hug for you" in black ink. it adds to the theme of the card, especially with the bear wearing the mask. i chose to stamp the bear on brown cardstock instead of coloring him in. he's also elevated off of the card base with foam tape for a little additional dimension.

An angled view of the card front, the dimension and shine of the starry background created with embossing paste is visible. The stamped and die-cut bear has been elevated off of the card base with foam tape. The sentiment "A paper hug for you" is stamped in black ink near the bottom of the card front.

the texture created with the embossing paste is subtle, but the color adds a wonderful metallic shine. the silver looks so great on the dark blue background. i also really love that there's no distinct pattern within the smattering of the stars.

"A paper hug for you" is stamped in black ink near the bottom of the front of this card which features a background full of texture-embossed metallic silver stars and a dimensional stamped and die-cut bear wearing a face mask.

i think it's going to be awhile until we can freely hug those we care about without worrying about the consequences, so perhaps this paper hug might be a nice alternative. i'm envisioning all kinds of animals wearing facemasks along with some socially distant-appropriate sentiments for future cards. i've got a few new stamp sets with a variety of options.

paper hugs for everyone, that's what i'm saying. plus, have you ever seen such a cute bear?! and the stars - so many elements that i adore on this card! i hope you're all staying safe and healthy. what kinds of things do you enjoy to pass the time while staying safe? i would love to hear!
